Zara's boss, Chris Cole, played by Efron, and her mother, Brooke, played by Kidman, happen to be romantically involved, causing Zara to be immediately skeptical. Director Richard LaGravenese's first film in a decade showcases the impressive performances of Kidman, Efron, and King, with the addition of the legendary Kathy Bates. The film unfolds as a captivating fan-created romance, pairing a woman in her 50s with a man in his 30s, emphasizing that age is just a number. The romantic comedy features a dynamic relationship between Chris and Brooke, with Zara's negative attitude towards their budding romance creating tension. Bates has a small role in the film, but her presence shines brightly as she embodies parental guidance and support for Kidman's character. The moments between Bates and Kidman add depth to their bond, evoking genuine emotion.
